Hello!
Throughout the years of having this book blog, I have come to know a few great websites related to books and the like, which i would love to share here on Fighting Books for people who may not know them.
Also – if you know a great website that wasn’t mentioned here, please make sure to write it in the comments, because I really want to get to know even more book related websites!
Therefore I will list four great book related websites (in random order), and tell what they are about and why I love these websites.
- GoodReads
- GoodReads is a website which has all the information that you would need to know about a book.
- Most books, even the much unknown ones, can be found on GoodReads.
- You can make many book lists, and add books to your To Be Read-list or Currently Reading-list.
- GoodReads is probably one of my favorite book related websites, just because it is as effective and functional as it is.
- The best function of GoodReads is the reading challenge function which keeps track of how many books, you have read, how many words you have read, etc – every time you have finished a book, you can mark it as read on the website.
- NaNoWriMo
- NaNoWriMo (short for National Novel Writing Month) is a website, most active in November, which challenges the users to write a 50,000 words novel in the month of November.
- It accepts any participant and challenges people in a positive way to practice their writing skills.
- The website offers many guidelines and helpful advice – given both during the event and throughout the rest of the year.
- You don’t need to feel nervous or intimidated, because no one needs to read your story – you only update your word count on NaNoWriMo.
- To keep you writing, the website has added achivements/badges as you reach certain word count marks.
- The Book Depository
- The Book Depository is where I always order books online.
- They have free shipping and ships worldwide to most countries.
- They sell most books – I don’t think I have tried looking for a book I needed that they don’t sell.
- I am a bookmark lover, and The Book Depository are so very nice to often add free bookmarks to their packages.
- The interface of the website is very inspiring, and can easily be a good platform to use, when you are looking for new books to buy.
- Wattpad
- Wattpad is an online reading platform, where it is possible to read all kinds of stories: fanfiction, original stories, poetry, etc.
- It is possible for everyone to add their story to the website, and you can update your book as often as you want to.
- Feedback from fans and other writers is a great and easy feature.
- It is possible to find all kinds of genres.
- Wattpad has a writing prompt called #justwriteit, which they are updating every month, and it is pretty inspiring.
